Sky Sport Now.

Product Design For A New Zealand Media Network.

The
Rundown.

Sky Sport is a sub-brand of New Zealand's massive media network Sky. Naturally they wanted to create a best in-class streaming service for all their sports content and sports channels to expand their reach.

That's where I came in, I got the chance to create their product from scratch. This wasn't the traditional sports service you think of where it's mostly game/matchup based. This was more akin to a Live TV or Entertainment streaming service. So that was the starting point, but I had to take it all the way to the finish line.

All About
The Live TV.

Sky Sport Now offers up to 12 live channels. Since this is a sports-focused product this is the main driver. Sports content and engagement is mostly about live, interest is considerably less for sports VOD content.

Tons Of On Demand Content Too.

Secondary to Live TV was the organization and elevation of the on demand content. There was tons of it, so on deck was to figure out how we organize it, promote it, and manage it.

How Do We Organize All This Sh*t...

There were two main types of content, short-form and long-form, so that was the place to start. From there we can categorize each of the types to come up with the basic structure. Then, we need a way to manage it so it doesn't get stale. Solution – dynamic categories to promote anything, plus the ability to manage what categories display on the front-end via a CMS.

Adapted For
The Big Screen.

After the product direction was nailed down I started adapting it to the big screen. This is a cross-platform service so the same data and info had to display but I adjusted the front-end design for a better TV experience.
