Communy.

Product Design For A College Industry Startup.

The
Rundown.

Communy is a new product trying to break into the crowded college market. So, what do you need to break through? A good idea. This startup, founded by a recent college entrant, tackles the application, tour, and discovery process by providing live streaming tours and webinars for prospective students.

I was tasked with taking the idea and requirements to come up with something tangible. There's nothing really like this on the market so visualizing how the product would work both on the front end and back end was the biggest hurdle. I also came up with their new brand.

Let's Start With
The Message.

Before diving deep into the product I dove into the brand to try to get a feel for what type of atmosphere and message I want to portray throughout.

Now Let's Turn
To The Students.

The student apps were the main focus. This was the place to start because from this I can guage the product's needs as a whole. The backend, CMS, & client-side app will all be born from the student app's features.

The Journey Of Discovery.

The discovery process was longer and more important. Out of this phase came the understanding that everyone has different interests and paths, so the solution was a personalized experience initally captured through onboarding but continually changing through use. A mobile app and website was created for this.

And Finally,
The Universities.

The universities are the clients and the content generators. This approach meant giving the universities all they need to fulfill and manage this, including the ability to live stream their content directly to prospective students.

Solidifying The Product.

The student-facing apps are the main focus, but in order for it to exist and flourish it has to be accompanied by a solid backend. A client-generated product has to be easy to use and limit the barriers as much as possible. An app to broadcast streams, and a CMS to manage everything was created here.
